Various Stages of Wood Damage
Over the years we have seen a lot. Typically we do need to replace some of the wood on the home in the process of a re-roof or repair. Below are some images of some of the things we do come across.
Here the flat roof was leaking into the fascia as it was never installed correctly. It caused massive dammage.
THe dammage had gone on for so long, it had seeped into the interior walls as well as under the shingles of the lower decking.
We replaced all new fascia, as well as the soffit and some of the interior.
New fascia
Typically leaks are caused by bad flashing around the chimney. This in turn causes serious wood damage under the shingles.
We are able to replace the decking, install the underlayment & shingles and then re-flash the chimney correctly.
In homes built in the 1970's and 1980's we unfortunately see this all the time. Soffit venting placed under the eve (where it is supposed to be)however - it it placed over solid wood! This does nothing for your home, or venting, or allows the soffit to even work.
We usually go in and cut out the solid wood, and re-install the soffit so it allows the attic and roof to vent accordingly.
